Peter Shilton OBE takes in historic night for Leicester as City progress in Champions League

England and Leicester City legend Peter Shilton OBE was present at the King Power Stadium for one of the biggest nights in the club’s history, as they advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time.

Peter was interviewed by broadcaster BT Sport at pitch side level, giving his thoughts on Leicester’s chances before the historic game.

Having trailed Spanish side Sevilla 2-1 from the first leg, Leicester managed to defeat the visitors 2-0, goals from Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton ensuring safe passage to the last eight and a 3-2 victory on aggregate.

Following the thrilling game, Peter was invited into the home dressing room to continue the celebrations. He met the victorious players, including current Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and his father, former Manchester United keeper Peter Schmeichel.

Born and bred in Leicester, Peter began his illustrious goalkeeping career at City in 1966, making 286 appearances and even managing a solitary goal. Later in his career he had significant stints at the likes of Nottingham Forest, Southampton and Derby County, and remains England’s most capped player ever, with 125 caps, finishing his playing career in 1997, 31 years after it began.
