Champions provides celebs for Betsafe’s ‘Battle of Manchester’
Ahead of this week’s Manchester derby in the Premier League, online bookmakers Betsafe played their own ‘Battle of Manchester’ match with former players and celebrities representing both Manchester United and Manchester City.
Champions Celebrity Talent Management provided some of the talent for the match including former Manchester United players David May and Clayton Blackmore and Westlife singer Brian McFadden.
All three lined up alongside boxer Anthony Crolla for the Manchester United team and faced off against former Man City players Trevor Sinclair, Paul Dickov and Richard Dunne. The match was watched by Sky Sports pundit Alan McInally who provided some light-hearted commentary on proceedings.
After taking on some skill games including freekicks and the crossbar challenge, the celebrities embarked on a 5-a-side football match. The game finished 3-2 to Manchester City with Paul Dickov scoring the winning goal. When the teams meet for real on Thursday night, City fans will be hoping for a similar result as both teams fight for a top four finish.
